Origin and selective harvest at optimal maturity: Osmanthus (Osmanthus fragrans), traditionally known as Gui Hua, produces small golden flowers celebrated for their complex aromatic profile. This lot comes from the region of Guilin (Guangxi Province), the world-renowned native terroir whose name means, literally, ‘the forest of osmanthus’. The harvest is carried out by hand in early autumn, during the very short flowering period when the concentration of essential oils is at its height. Selection follows a strict specification: only freshly opened flowers are picked, setting aside closed buds and wilted petals, which would cloud the clarity of the infusion.
Harvest
A sorting process for absolute purity: the quality of this product is marked by the complete absence of plant debris or leaf fragments. After the artisan picking, the flowers undergo successive sieving and meticulous hand sorting to remove stems and impurities. Dehydration is carried out immediately at low temperature — a crucial technical step that fixes the original yellow-orange color and locks in the volatile compounds (ionones and linalool).

Brewing Parameters

Preparation: Allow around 1 to 2 grams of flowers (one teaspoon) per 200 ml cup. Pour on simmering water, ideally heated to between 80°C and 85°C. Leave to infuse, covered, for 3 to 5 minutes depending on the intensity desired, then strain.

Traditional pairings: Osmanthus pairs harmoniously with unoxidized teas (green tea), semi-oxidized teas (oolong), and with Damask Rose buds to develop floral profiles of great distinction.

Precautions for use: A natural product intended for adults. As a precaution, use is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Keep the glass jar tightly closed, away from direct sunlight, humidity and strong odors, to preserve the subtlety of the flowers.
