Ganoderma lucidum: Ling Zhi, whole cap cut into slices.

Location and Growing Variables

Biotope

The mushroom of imperial tradition: Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum), known by the venerable name of Ling Zhi, has held a sovereign place in the traditions of East Asia for more than two millennia. Historically reserved for scholars and emperors, this wood-dwelling mushroom grows wild on decomposing tree trunks in remote mountain forests. This lot comes from the terroir of excellence of the Tianmu Mountains (Zhejiang Province), a preserved area marked by its constant mists. The mushrooms are grown there in the traditional way, in the open air on buried hardwood logs (Duanwood), faithfully reproducing their native biotope to ensure an optimal density of their characteristic compounds.

Harvest

A clean cut and a preserved concentration: the superior quality of this lot shows in the precision of its cutting into even slices and in the exclusive use of the fruiting body (the cap) at full maturity, just as it takes on its characteristic lacquered rim. Unlike industrial powders, often cut with young mycelium or substrate, these slices allow the integrity and purity of the mushroom's fibrous structure to be verified. Immediate, rigorous drying fixes the principal compounds of Reishi, notably its specific polysaccharides (beta-glucans) and its highly oxygenated triterpenes (ganoderic acids).

Brewing Parameters

01

Preparation (decoction): Take about 2 to 3 grams of Reishi slices (one or two slices, depending on size) for 500 ml of spring water. Bring to the boil, then simmer gently, covered, for 30 to 45 minutes. The liquid reduces and takes on an amber hue. Strain and drink hot or warm. As its flavor is naturally and deeply bitter, the broth may be softened with a touch of honey or paired with Damask Rose buds.

Frequency of use: Traditionally taken in the morning or at the end of the day to accompany periods of recovery or intense stress.

03

Precautions for use: A raw product intended for adults. Not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Keep the glass jar tightly closed in a dry, temperate environment.
