THE DAWN HARVEST
Traditionally grown in Fujian province, jasmine buds (Jasminum sambac) have held a privileged place in the Asian art of infusion since the Ming dynasty. Picked by hand at dawn before they open, then carefully dried to the exacting standards of fine herbalism, they release in infusion floral notes both suave and refined, ideal for encouraging calm and accompanying moments of repose.

Imperial Garden Jasmine Flower Buds | Whole, Closed Flower Buds • Traditional Terroirs of Excellence in East Asia

Jasminum sambac: whole, closed flower buds, Extra Grade.

Location and Growing Variables

Biotope

Jasmine Sambac, the excellence of a royal lineage: the jasmine selected for this lot belongs exclusively to the species Jasminum sambac, recognized in fine herbalism and fine perfumery as the variety richest in volatile essences. Grown in preserved traditional terroirs of East Asia, this jasmine flourishes in rich, well-drained soils under a subtropical climate. Unlike common jasmine (Jasminum officinale), lighter and more fleeting, the Sambac variety possesses a singular biochemical signature marked by a high content of benzyl acetate and linalool, which gives it its heady scent — at once suave, full-bodied and deeply calming.

Harvest

A strict anatomical sorting, the closed bud: the technical superiority of this 20 g lot lies in the finely measured stage of maturity at harvest. Jasmine must never be picked open, for the flower releases its essential oils into the air as it blooms, leaving a dry, flat flower. Our artisans pick only flower buds still closed, late in the evening or at nightfall, when the plant concentrates all its aromatic sap at the heart of the bud. The buds then undergo immediate dehydration at a controlled low temperature to lock the fragrant molecules inside the flower.

Brewing Parameters

01

Preparation (pure infusion): Allow about 1 to 2 grams of buds (a generous teaspoon) for a 200 ml cup. Pour barely trembling spring water heated to between 80 °C and 85 °C at most. Leave to infuse, covered, for 4 to 6 minutes. The buds rehydrate and gradually release their fragrance and a clear, lightly golden liquor. Strain before tasting.

02

Rituals and masterful pairings: Jasmine is the ideal companion for your compositions. It pairs masterfully with Persian Damask Rose buds for an absolute floral bouquet, or with your slices of Tianmu Mountain Reishi to soften the nobility of their bitterness.

03

Precautions for use: A raw natural product intended for adults. As a precaution, regular use is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Keep the glass jar tightly closed, away from direct light, humidity and strong odors, to preserve the fidelity of its olfactory signature.
